Hurt - A Poem

Authors Note - This is a repost from IFF. I had forgotten about it until I re-read it tonight. I am glad I am not in this place anymore. Men.....who needs them lol!

A statement or fact or slip of the tongue
A verbal lashing which left me stunned
Only you will ever know how true your words are
But for me, they've left a scar

I mask the pain your words induced
You can't take it back, there is no excuse
I'm sorry is all I want to hear
Self-absorbed you are, your conscience should fear

The tone of your voice was all it took
The decision was made, I closed the book
A gutless man, a coward indeed
You'll never learn, i'm in charge of me

WOW!! You have left me speechless...which i assure you doesn't happen often, ask Traci...lol. I could really feel the emotion that must have been pouring out of you when you composed this. Very powerful, pain and rejection is never a good thing to deal with. I'm glad that you're in a much better place now.

She always has a lot to say, Melissa......and let me just agree with what she has said about this poem. I do remember it from IFF and that painful time in your life. You captured a vast array of emotions beautifully.

Men can be such thoughtless bastards at times, can't they Melissa? Having been through what you experienced, we can certainly understand the pain you must have felt at that point in your life. Beautifully written!
